Have You Considered Running for Council?

Agriculture is important to Peterborough County and the best way to make sure farm voices are heard is to elect farmers to local Municipal Councils. Elections are happening this fall on October 24,2022. Nomination opens May 2, 2022 and closes August 19th,  2022. 

There will be a free information session on becoming a candidate on April 27 at 7PM-9 PM in person and Zoom. For more information, and to register for the info session, contact  kbateman@peterborough.ca

Agricultural Bale Wrap Recycling Program

Peterborough County is continuing to work with SwitchEnergy Corp to provide agricultural bale wrap recycling collections in 2022. 

Please contact SwitchEnergy Corp for information regarding fees and collection instructions:

  • Email dnott@switchenergycorp.com  or
  • Call (519) 524 - 0193.
    • Switch Energy will provide bags for the agricultural bale wrap,
      • the wrap must be free of any contaminants such as rope, paper, dirt, or wood, and
      • Ask about recycling options for silage wrap and twine.

Small Flock Stakeholders - webinars this week!

From OMAFRA:   With the rapidly developing situation in Ontario there will be two HPAI situational updates focused on the small flock community on Tuesday night and Thursday night at 6:30 EST (April 5 and 7, 2022). The updates are from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, (OMAFRA) and Canadian Food Inspection Agency, (CFIA) and are hosted by Poultry Industry Council. We will also have the opportunity for a live Q&A session after the updates. We will do further updates in the coming weeks on an as-needed basis. Please distribute to your network as anyone involved as a small flock stakeholder is encouraged to attend.
